Wednesday, April 15:

  • It's "Purple Up Day" for Military Kids!  Put on a Purple Shirt to recognize and support our Military Children, the brave hearts behind the uniforms who serve right alongside their families.  Military kids face unique challenges, from frequent moves to long deployments, and this day led by the Military Child Education Coalition, is all about showing them they are seen, supported and appreciated.
  • Hot Pastrami Sandwiches are on the lunch menu.
  • The Riders' Trophy Steal takes place at Post 66 in Green Valley at 12PM.
  • The Veterans Advisory Board Meeting starts at 4:30PM in Municipal Center 1 Community Room 202 at the Civic Center.
  • Bar Bingo starts at 5PM.  Come play all the games or just a few.

Thursday, April 16:

  • Legion Burgers are available from 11AM-1PM.
  • The Ace of Spades with Deuces Wild Drawing takes place shortly after the 7 o'clock toast.  Ticket sales end at 6:50PM.
  • Karaoke with Gina starts after the Drawing.

R.E.D. FRIDAY, April 17:

  • In honor of our Troops who are serving overseas, please wear a R.E.D. SHIRT.
  • The 3 day Fisher House Ride starts today.  Registration starts at 9AM with KSU from 39 at 10AM heading to Safford for the evening.
  • Hot Dogs/Chili Dogs are on the lunch menu.
  • The Auxiliary is in the kitchen cooking dinner with service starting at 5:30PM.  Help is needed and appreciated.
  • Karaoke starts at 8PM.

Saturday, April 18:

  • The Fisher House Ride continues.  KSU from Safford is 9AM heading to Tombstone for the night.
  • The ASU Pat Tillman Veterans Center Fundraiser is taking place at the Post from 11AM-6PM.  Volunteers are needed starting at 11AM until 6PM.  Shifts are 3 hours long.  There will be a 50/50 raffle, silent auctions, live music, the Guitars for Vets Graduation, food, drinks and plenty of fun.
  • Poker is CANCELED!
  • All Seltzers are a buck off all day long!

Sunday, April 19:

  • The Auxiliary is back in the kitchen cooking breakfast with service starting at 9:00.  If you are available to help, it would be greatly appreciated.
  • The last leg of the Fisher House Ride heads from Tombstone to Post 36 in Tucson.  KSU at 9AM.  From Post 36, it heads to the Fisher House for the check presentation at Noon.
  • Bingo starts at 2PM.  Come play all the games or just a few.

Monday, April 20:

  • Sloppy Joes are on the lunch menu.
  • The Queen of Hearts Drawing takes place at 7PM.  Ticket sales end at 6:50PM.
  • Texas Hold 'Em Poker starts at 7PM.

Tuesday, April 21:

  • Tacos are on the lunch and dinner menu.
  • The Legion General Meeting starts at 6PM.  The second round of nominations are taking place.
  • The Gilbert Regular Town Council Meeting starts at 6:30PM at the Municipal Building.

Still Happening:

  • Although Military Tribute Banner sales have ended,  the Veterans Advisory Board is proud to announce the Military Tribute Banner Rehang Program created to honor the service and sacrifice of our military heroes.  If you purchased a Military Tribute Banner in the past, you are invited to have that same banner displayed in the Heritage District once again.  To participate, a minimum $50 donation to the Veterans Advisory Board is required.  Banners must be dropped off at the reception desk at Town Hall no later than May 7th in order for it to be displayed this year during Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day.
  • The Auxiliary Poppy Committee is selling Poppy patches for $7 each to raise money for National Poppy Day on May 23rd.  These will make a nice addition to your vest or jacket and the proceeds benefit veterans, active duty, military personnel and their families.  See Kim Tinsley to purchase some.

Looking Ahead:

  • April 24:  The TOG presents Movies in the Park featuring "A Minecraft Movie".
  • April 25:  SAL Texas Hold 'Em Tournament
  • April 25:  Post 91 in Chandler is hosting "Here's to the Heroes 12th Memorial Golf Tournament".  The tournament takes place at San Marcos.  There will be a 50/50 Ball Drop that is open to anyone.  A helicopter will drop balls onto the practice range.  If your ball lands in the hole, you win BIG.  No need to be present to win.  You can register for the Ball Drop ($10 per ball) from the flyer found on Post 91's website.  Yes, I bought one!  It looks like the golf tournament itself is sold out.  Hole sponsorship opportunities are still available.  Proceeds benefit Veterans, their families and the community.
  • April 26:  Riders' General Meeting at Noon.
  • May 1:  Movies in the Park featuring "Lilo & Stitch"
  • May 1:  Bike Night at Post 27.
  • May 2:  Sidewalk Sale by Made with Love Market at the Civic Center Park.
  • May 2:  1st Saturday of the month Post Clean-up.
  • May 2:  Jimmy P. is back in the house!
  • May 3:  Riders' Capture the Flag at Post 107 in Phoenix at 2PM.
  • May 5:  Legion General Meeting (changed from May19).  Final Officer & E-Board Nominations at 6PM.
  • May 5:  Town Council Regular Meeting at 6:30PM.
  • May 6:  Set up for the Phoenix Creative Arts Festival in the Topaz Clinic at Carl T. Hayden VA Hospital.
  • May 7:  Phoenix Creative Arts Festival in the Topaz Clinic at Carl T. Hayden VA Hospital.
  • May 8:  Movies in the Park featuring "How to Train Your Dragon".
  • May 9:  Service Officer Hours available from 8:30-11:30AM.
  • May 9:  "Drop Zone" the one stop resource fair for veterans' services and senior benefits at 7729 E. Pecos Rd. in Mesa.
  • May 10:  Mother's Day.  Bingo is CANCELED!
  • May 15:  Movies in the Park featuring "Zootopia 2".

  • May 16:  Quilts of Valor Ceremony to honor 12 well deserving Veterans.
