Wednesday, July 15:

  • Hot Pastrami Sandwiches are on the lunch menu.
  • Bar Bingo starts at 5PM.  Play for as little as $1 per game for games 1-5 and 7-10.  Game 6 is $3 and Game 11 is $5.  Expect it to be a little more crowded this week than the past couple of weeks.  The large QofH jackpot at Post 91 was won!
  • ***The kitchen is open for Bingo.  We got Wraps, a House Salad, Wings, Chicken Strips, Hot Pastrami Sandwiches, and Roast Beef & Cheddar Sandwiches.

Thursday, July 16:

  • Legion Burgers are available from 11AM-1PM.
  • The Riders' Trophy Steal is happening at 12PM in Peoria at Post 62.
  • The Ace of Spades with Deuces Wild Drawing takes place shortly after the 7 o'clock toast.  Ticket sales end at 6:50.
  • Karaoke with Gina starts after the Drawing.

R.E.D. FRIDAY, July 17:

  • Don't forget to put your R.E.D. shirt on to honor our troops who are serving overseas.
  • Hot Dogs/Chili Dogs are on the lunch menu.
  • ***Rico F. is selling R.E.D. patches with a heat activated adhesive already applied.  He will be at the Post during dinner if you are interested.
  • Auxiliary is in the kitchen cooking dinner.  Stuffed Pork Loin Chops with garlic buttered mashed potatoes, gravy and fresh green beans with bacon, mushrooms and onions will be offered along with T-Bone Steaks and our other regular dinner menu items and sides.  The window opens at 5:30PM.
  •  If you are able to help in the kitchen, it would be appreciated.  Prep starts around 4:00 and help is needed until about 8:30.  Remember to leave the cute sandals at home, because only closed toe shoes are allowed in the kitchen.  A Food Handlers Card is also needed.  If you don't have one, they can be obtained online for $8-15 and completion of a self-paced class and passing a test.  It only takes about 15-30 minutes.  You can also sell 50/50 tickets if you don't have a card.
  • Karaoke starts at 8PM.

Saturday, July 18:

  • Service Officer Hours are available from 8:30-11:30AM.  If you are a veteran or know of a veteran who needs help to access his/her well earned military benefits or help navigating the VA system, this is the place to be.
  • All Seltzers are a buck off all day long.
  • Poker starts at 1PM.

Sunday, July 19:

  • The Auxiliary is back in the kitchen cooking breakfast.  The window opens at 9AM.
  • ***The Riders' Capture the Flag is taking place at ALR 91 in Chandler at 2PM.  If you would like to ride with some fellow 39 members, please meet at the Post at noon and plan for a 12:15 KSU.  Festivities at ALR91 start at 1PM.
  • ATTENTION!  Bingo will start at 1PM, an hour earlier than the regularly scheduled time.  Games 1-9 are $2 or $4 and Game 10 is $10.  You can buy all 10 games for $34.
  • At the conclusion of Bingo, the dining hall will be rented out for the retirement party of a U.S. Marine.  Be sure to thank him for his service to our country and congratulate him on his retirement.

Monday, July 20:

  • Sloppy Joes are on the lunch menu.
  • The Queen of Hearts Drawing takes place at 7PM.  Ticket sales end at 6:50.  You can purchase tickets all week long through the bartender.
  • Texas Hold 'Em Poker starts at 7PM.

Tuesday, July 21:

  • It's Taco Tuesday and the Post has you covered for both lunch and dinner.
  • If you had to choose between eating tacos every day or being skinny for life, would you choose hard or soft tacos?
  • The Legion General Meeting starts at 6PM.

  • Some tasty food options continue to come out of the kitchen on short notice.  I try to keep up with them when I can by editing our Weekly Newsletter on our azlegion39 website.  Any updates or edits between the initial release of the Weekly Newsletter (usually comes out on Wednesdays) can be found in the link and NOT in your inbox.  Look for the 3 *** which indicate an update or edit from the original release.

Looking Ahead:

  • July 23:  Learn to recognize a veteran in crisis and learn how to respond.  Online "Be The One" training 11:30AM-1PM.  Register on the National Legion website.
  • July 24:  FREE "Dive-In Movie Night" at the Mesquite Aquatic Center
  • July 25:  "Suicide Awareness Saturday Event" at the Post.  Volunteers are needed and donations of items to raffle off are requested.  Maybe use some of your credit card reward points to purchase gift cards to donate to the raffles.
  • July 25:  The "Display" USA  Decanter Soccer Ball will be raffled off.  The box isn't mint condition but the decanter is good.  Raffle tickets are 5 for $20.
  • July 25:  D Maz is performing at the Post starting at 4PM (Jimmy P. is CANCELED).
  • July 26:  AZ Motormen will be at Post 26 holding a ride practice session.  7-9:30AM.  See Caleb D. if interested.
  • July 26:  The Riders General Meeting starts at 12PM.
  • July 26:  Jimmy P. will be at Icons Sports Grill from 3:25-6:30PM.
  • July 30:  "Tip-A-Cop" Fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse 3-7PM.
  • July 31:  "Nerf Wars in the Stacks" at the Southeast Regional Library.
  • August 1:  First Saturday of the month Post Clean-up.
  • August 1:  Jimmy P. is back in the house, Our House!

  • August 11:  Gilbert Town Council Regular Meeting.
  • August 14-16:  Legion College takes place at Post 27.  All entities are welcome, but you must register to attend.  Before registering, you must take the American Legion Basic Training Course.  Go to the American Legion Department of AZ website for more info.
