What a great day Tuesday at the Post was as we honored our Veterans on Veterans Day! Thank you to ALL the volunteers who helped decorate, set up, donated baked goods, cook, serve, patrol the fence, keep the bartenders stocked, sold 50/50 tickets, keep the "Sweets" table stocked, made sure our Veterans had water, clean up, take down, put away etc. It takes a village, and we had one! Our 39 Legion Family rocks!
Here are the Happenings:
Wednesday, November 12:
- It's Whiskey Wednesday so that is your Drink Special.
- Hot Pastrami Sandwiches are on the lunch menu.
- Bar Bingo starts at 5PM. Come play all the games or just a few.
- Check out the food options available while you play. We have plenty of sweets left, so save enough room for dessert!
Thursday, November 13:
- Domestic Draft Beer is $1 off.
- Legion Burgers are available from 11AM-1PM.
- Guitars 4 vets gather at 5PM.
- TNF starts at 6:15 featuring the Jets at the Patriots.
- The Ace of Spades with Deuces Wild Drawing takes place shortly after the 7 o'clock toast. Be sure to buy your tickets by 6:50PM.
- Karaoke with Gina starts after the Drawing.
R.E.D. FRIDAY, November 14:
- Don't forget to rock your R.E.D. shirt in honor of our troops who are serving overseas.
- Hot Dogs/Chili Dogs are what's for lunch.
- Wine is $1 off.
- The Town brings you "WhatACop community Event" at the new Whata Burger located at 905 S. Gilbert Rd. from 10AM-12PM. Meet your GPD officers, ask questions, learn about recruitment efforts and enjoy a FREE coffee or small shake.
- Riders' Trophy Steal takes place at Post 9 in Florence at 12PM. Go hungry because they have Chili con Carne with rice and beans available for $8.
- The SONS are in the kitchen cooking dinner. They are offering a Special! In place of steaks, chicken parmesan and a special sauce will be offered. With the exception of the steaks, the other regular dinner menu WILL also be available.
- Karaoke starts at 8PM.
Saturday, November 15:
- Proper Flag retirement is CANCELED (MOVED TO SUNDAY) at the request of GF&R.
- Got a problem with your Gilbert water bill? The Town is holding a "Gilbert Utility Listening Session" from 9AM-11AM at the Town Hall. Yes, you can be heard also.
- At the Post, all things Rum are a buck off.
- NCAA Football kicks off at 10AM with UofA and Cincinnati. ASU hosts West Virginia at 11AM.
- Poker starts at 1PM.
Sunday, November 16:
- A Proper Flag retirement starts at 7AM.
- The NFL kicks off at 7:30AM featuring Washington and Miami. Come catch the second half at the Post when it opens at 9AM. Next round of games starts at 11AM and continues throughout the day. The Cardinals host the Niners at 2:05.
- The Auxiliary is in the kitchen cooking breakfast with service starting at 9AM.
- Domestic Beer and Well Drinks are $1 off.
- The SONS General Meeting starts at Noon (originally scheduled for 11/9)
- D12 Meetings are at Post 34 in Cave Creek. Aux starts at 12:30PM followed by the Legion Meeting at 2PM.
- After a week off, Bingo is back! The games start at 2PM. Play all 10 games or just a few.
- Riders' Capture the Flag takes place at Post 35 in Chandler at 2PM.
Monday, November 17:
- Veteran Service Officer Hours are available at the Post from 9AM-12PM.
- Vodka Drinks are $1 off.
- Sloppy Joes are on the lunch menu.
- The Queen of Hearts Drawing takes place at 7PM. Ticket sales close at 6:50.
- Texas Hold 'Em Poker starts at 7PM.
Tuesday, November 18:
- Rumor has it that it is Commander Frank's Birthday!
- Tacos are back on the lunch and dinner menu!
- Bottles of Beer are a buck off.
- Gilbert Days Volunteer Meeting starts at 5PM. This is another BIG event at our Post, so it takes a village! Come see how you can help. The event itself takes place on 11/22.
- Legion General Meeting starts at 6PM.
- The Regular Gilbert Town Council Meeting starts at 6:30PM at Municipal Building 1 located at 50 E. Civic Center Dr.
Still Happening:
- Please continue to contact our Gilbert Town Council Members via email, written letter or phone call to express your concerns about the plans that will take away most of our parking lot.
- It's time for Packages For Troops! We need names and addresses for active service members who are serving stateside or overseas. We would love to send them a care package of goodies for the holidays. So if you have family members, friends, or if your neighbors or coworkers have family or friends serving stateside or overseas, send Julio their name and address so that we can send them a care package of goodies for the holidays. - We are also selling "Stars" for $15 and "Hearts" for $5 with proceeds benefiting Packages For Troops. See the Bartender on duty.
- Now through November 30th at all AZ Red Robin locations, you can purchase Gift Cards to be donated to the VMLC for distribution to Veterans. The VMLC is a 501(c)(3) charity that helps Veterans.
- Did you receive your membership renewal notice in the mail recently? Act now! Legionnaires are $50 and the SAL and Auxiliary are $35. Renew online, by mail, in person at the Post, and Aux members can pay via Venmo (@Karen-Sepulveda-10), Zelle or PayPal to the email address or phone number listed below. If you are having trouble, feel free to reach out to me via text, email or phone call.
- "Be The One" merchandise - I still have 1 size small Aux shirts, ($14 each), 1 challenge coin ($6), and several patches ($2.50 each) left. Contact me if you are interested in purchasing some of these items. We also have some "Be The 1" pins for sale too for only $10.
- Speaking of t-shirts! We still have Navy Blue 7 o'clock toast t-shirts for sale for $25. Medium, Large and XXL available. There are also 7 XXL red on black shirts available.
- We also still have those really cool and colorful Post 39 Challenge Coins for $12. The coin features the Gilbert water tower, emblems of each service branch as well as the 7 o'clock toast.

- November 27: Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers needed to help make/serve dinner for those who cannot celebrate with family.

- November 29: The Post 39 Trail Riders head to the Desert Bar in Parker.
