Wednesday, October 7:

• Hot Pastrami Sandwiches are on the lunch menu.
• Bar Bingo starts at 5PM.  Come play all the games or just a few.  Net proceeds from Bar Bingo will go to ASU Pat Tillman Veterans Center, "Student Veterans Stronger Together".  Buy a couple extra cards to support a good cause.

Thursday, October 8:

• Legion Burgers are available from 11AM-1PM.
• The first of 4 days of "Western Romp 2026" hosted by ALR 9 in Florence begins!  Registration opens at 12PM.  There will be daily rides, pub crawls, karaoke, music, raffles, ride patches, Rockers, t-shirts, 50/50, food trucks, vendors and more.
• Week 8 of Guitars 4 Vets starts at 5PM.
• The Ace of Spades with Deuces Wild Drawing takes place shortly after the 7 o'clock toast.
• Karaoke with Gina starts after the Drawing.

R.E.D. FRIDAY, October 9:

• In honor of our Troops who are serving overseas, don't forget to put your R.E.D. Shirt on to start your day.
• Hot Dogs/Chili Dogs are on the lunch menu.
• The Sound Bite Music Festival begins at 4:30PM at Gilbert Regional Park.  Only event ticket holders will be allowed in the park on Friday.
• The SONS are in the kitchen cooking dinner.  Along with our regular Friday night dinner menu, they are also offering Hand-Breaded Alaskan Pollock & Grilled Salmon.  The Steaks being offered are Boneless NY Strip.  Window opens at 5:30PM.
• The SONS will also be doing a check presentation to the beneficiaries of the Suicide Awarenss Event.
• Karaoke starts at 8PM.

Saturday, October 10:

• Registration for our Annual "Like a Roc" Ride begins at 9AM with KSU at 10:15AM.  This ride was created in honor of 39 Legionnaire Roc Rothchild who passed away in 2023.  This year, the ride will honor 39 Legionnaire & SAL member David Hessevick who passed away on March 5, 2026.  There will be 4 stops on the ride, 3 stops heading to Payson and the last is returning to 39.  The ride includes a Poker Run.  Proceeds benefit the Fisher House.
• Poker is CANCELED!
• All Seltzers are $1 off ALL day and night.
• The "Made with Love" Market is back at the Civic Center from 9AM-2PM.
• From 1-5PM, Post 35 will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Past Arizona State Commander Judi Beischel who passed away on July 18.  An amazing woman and admirable life well lived.  All are welcome to honor and celebrate her extraordinary life.
• Jimmy P. is NOT playing as originally scheduled 🙁

Sunday, October 11:

• The first NFL game starts at 6:30AM featuring the Eagles and the Jaguars.  The Post doesn't open until 9AM, but you might be able to catch the 4th quarter when the doors open.
• *** The SONS are back in the kitchen cooking breakfast with service starting at 9AM.  The Bloody Mary Bar is back!  They also have a Special dish consisting of Hatch Green Chili on biscuits with an egg.
• Gilbert High School is hosting "Gilbert Sunday Social", a local vendor market featuring sourdough bread, baked goods candles, body oil, handmade items, face painting and more.  The event takes place from 9-11AM at 1101 E. Elliot Rd. in the east parking lot.
• Day 2 of the "Made with Love" Market is open from 9AM-2PM at the Civic Center.
• The SONS General Meeting starts at Noon.
• Bingo at the Post starts at 2PM.  The kitchen will be closed after breakfast so feel free to bring in outside food to share with others or for yourself to munch on while you play.
• Post 27 is hosting a Celebration of Life  starting at 3PM for SAL Past National Commander Jeffrey Frain.  Jeff dedicated 40 plus years to our great organization.  All are welcome.

Monday, October 12:

• Sloppy Joes are on the lunch menu.
• The Riders Trophy Steal takes place at ALR 5 in Phoenix at 12PM.
• The Queen of Hearts Drawing takes place at 7PM.
• Texas Hold 'Em Poker starts at 7PM.
• Last day to get 500 EXTRA chips for the SAL Poker Tournament.

Tuesday, October 13:

• October 13 marks the 251st Birthday of the U.S. Navy.  Cheers to all of our Navy Veterans!
• Tacos are available for lunch and dinner.
• The Auxiliary General Meeting starts at 6PM.  Department President Marge Christianson will be our Special Guest.  Come meet our Arizona State ALA President.  We will also be drawing the winner of our first of 4 $25 Amazon gift cards.  You can still get your name in this drawing if you renew your membership between now and the start of the meeting.

Still Happening:

• The 2 new Bingo machines located on the east wall of the dining room and the Bingo tablets behind the Bar are LIVE!.  They are NOT available to play on Mondays and Tuesdays.  (I had the days wrong last week).
• Registration for the SONS Poker Tournament is still happening.  The Tournament takes place on October 17th at 6PM.  Sign up by October 12th and receive an EXTRA 500 chips.  Gift Card prizes for the winners.  Proceeds benefit the Fisher House.

• Auxiliary Members who renew early for 2027 will have their name put in a bucket for a chance to win 1 of 4 $25 Amazon Gift Cards.  The earlier you renew, the more chances you have to win.  One winner will be drawn at each of our next 4 Auxiliary General Meetings, so if you renew before our next General Meeting on October 13th, you will have 4 chances to win.  If you wait until after our October Meeting but before our November meeting, you only have 3 chances etc.  The longer you wait, the less chances you have.  Even if you renew online, your name still gets put in the drawing.
• For all you High Rollers out there, Post 91 is having their 18th Annual Raffle for a chance to win $15K towards a motorsports vehicle of your choice or $10K in cash.  Only 350 tickets will be sold at $100 each.  Drawing will be held on December 12.
• Have you voted for your favorite NFL team yet?  Would you like to see your Team's flag hanging in our Post?  This is your chance to make it happen!  Donate money in your team's name.  Envelopes and a secure box for your donation are located on the west wall of the dining room.   At the end of the season, the team with the most funds raised will have their flag up for the entire year.  All proceeds benefit Post 39.
• Renewing your membership for 2027 is still happening!  The Legionnaires are $50, the SONS are $35 and the Auxiliary is $40.  Auxiliary Members can renew by one of the following options:

1. Pay with a credit card over the phone to National at 317-569-4570.
2.  Pay online at https://member.legion-aux.org/renew.  You will need to enter your membership number and name exactly how it is shown on your 2026 card (let me know if you can't find your card).
3.  You can mail a check for $40 made payable to ALA Unit 39 to 206 N. Gilbert Rd. Gilbert, AZ 85234
4.  You can pay with cash, check or credit card at the Post through the Bartender on duty or through a 39 Legion Family Officer that happens to be there. (All entities can use this option)
5.  You can also pay via PayPal or Zelle using my email address karensep11@gmail.com

7.  You can also drop a check in the secure Auxiliary mailbox located by the Women's restroom at the Post.
