The American Legion Riders Post 39 is proud to announce the second annual “In Their Boots” event on Saturday, March 23, 2024 benefiting the Fisher House in Tucson.
Our event for 2023 we raised and presented a check to the C.H.A.M.P. foundation for $30,000.00 during our annual three day ride to the Fisher House in Tuscon on April 16th, 2023!
It is our goal to more than double that amount for 2024!
Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where active duty military & veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. These homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world. Arizona currently has one in Tucson and another to be built in Phoenix at a future date.
Merrell-Mitchell American Legion Post 39 Gilbert is a 501(c) organization along with our Legionaires, Auxiliary, Sons of American Legion, and American Legion Riders, are all involved. We are veterans, supporters, family members, descendants of veterans.
We support the C.H.A.M.P. foundation and all proceeds collected go directly to the foundation.
Champ Foundation is a 501(c)3 formed to benefit the Tucson Fisher House specifically. Donations made to CHAMP are made available for the Fisher House Manager to address the needs of the guests of the facility as soon as they are deposited.
Champ was formed to fulfill the local community's ongoing support of Fisher House Tucson in that same spirit. Either way, your money is supporting Veterans and Active Duty personnel and their families as their medical needs are being addressed by the VA and the military medical systems.
The Event:
On March 23 there will be a morning motorcycle poker run to several nursing homes visiting our veterans and supporting those who served us.
Each rider will have their rider card validated at each stop, and finish at Post 39 no later than 12:00 p.m.
In Their Boots 1 Mile Walk (preferably in combat boots) where entrants solicit donations in advance based on the 1 mile total. Walkers will also be encouraged to carry boots for public donations.
Walk will start at front of Gilbert Post 39 Road, crossing east, and walk north on Gilbert ½ mile crossing west at the Western Powerline Trail/Gilbert Road Trail Crossing and return south to start point.
Walk Start 1:30 PM.
